Passing of Pastor Frederick Gordon's Brother

A brother of Rev. Frederick Gordon passed away on Sunday March 14, 2010. Folks in Riverview probably did not know his brother but since Rev. Gordon was a former pastor of the Central Baptist Church, Kingsport, please lift Rev. Gordon up in prayer as he goes through this difficult time.

His name is Vincent Alexander Gordon and a memorial service is scheduled for this evening {Thursday March 18, 2010} at 7:00pm at the Bethel A Baptist Church in Brevard, NC with Rev. Frederick Gordon where Rev. Gordon is pastor, and will be officiating this service. Calls are welcome to Rev. Gordon at 828/884-4412.

Dirl Justice Bristol


BRISTOL Dirl Justice Bristol, 71, entered into rest Friday, March 12, 2010 in Jacksonville, Florida. A former resident of Kingsport, Tennessee, Mr. Justice also attended Douglass High School. A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 17th at the Mary Rose Chapel, 2212 Emerson Street. Professional services provided by Sarah L. Mrs. Marie Sensabaugh Pruitt

KINGSPORT — Mrs. Marie A. Sensabaugh Pruitt, 46, gently closed her eyes and went to sleep in the arms of Jesus on Monday (March 8, 2010) at her home after a lengthy illness.

Born on Aug. 16, 1963, in Kingsport, she graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1981 and later went on to graduate from Barton’s School of Cosmetology in Kingsport. She was employed at Marcleen’s Beauty Salon in Church Hill and was also a certified nursing assistant working in Kingsport, Sulligent, Ala., and Aberdeen, Miss.
She married in 1996 and resided in Mississippi until she returned to this area in 2006.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. James W. Sensabaugh and Mrs. Josephine McKinney Sensabaugh; grandparents, Mr. Nicholas and Mrs. Cora McKinney, Mrs. Willie Mae Sensabaugh, Mrs. Margaret and Mr. Richard Sensabaugh; and several aunts and uncles.
Survived by a very special godson, Dimingo (Sarah) Hale and sons; husband, Mr. Robert Pruitt Jr. Mississippi; sisters, Mrs. Cora (Rick) Taylor, Mrs. Dorothy Sensabaugh and Mrs. LaMona Derr; brother, Mr. James P. Sensabaugh, nieces and nephews, Daryl A. Hughes, II (Kayla), James Adrian Sensabaugh, Krystal Derr, Jessica and Brittany Sensabaugh; great niece, Tiara Hughes; and a host aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends Saturday from noon till the hour of service at the Full Gospel Mission Church 740 E. Sevier Ave. Friends may call her sister’s residence at 1229 Garden Drive at any time.
Funeral service for Mrs. Marie A. Sensabaugh Pruitt will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. from the church with Pastor Gearldine Swagerty officiating.
Interment will follow at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Betty J. Bond Dickens

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Mrs. Betty J. Dickens, of Atlantic City, N.J., passed away on March 5, 2010, at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Atlantic City after a brief illness.

Betty was born and raised in Kingsport, and moved to Atlantic City while in her early twenties. She attended Nursing School and worked at Atlantic City Medical Center as a nurse for 33 years, retiring in December 1994. Betty was a faithful member of Union Baptist Temple, and a former deaconess.
The youngest of 12 siblings, Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Virginia Bond; sisters, Louvenia Beason, Theresa Dykes, Olivia Lockett, Lenora Bowditch and Roselene Bond; and brothers, Eldridge “Bud” Bond, Milton Bond, Oscar Bond and William “Matt” Bond.
Betty is survived by her devoted husband,
Thomas, the love of her life and her life partner for more than 47 years; daughter, Angelia; brothers, Orvel Bond and wife, Beatrice, and John “JD” Bond and wife, Members; sistersin-law, Marlene Weaver, Joyce Bond and Willie Bond; nieces, nephews and special friends.
Friends may call at the home of Carl and Chynet Hale, Betty’s niece, 1018 E. Sevier St.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Shiloh Baptist Church, 712 E. Sevier St., with Dr. Kenneth Calvert officiating. Friends may call between 10 and 11 a.m. prior to the service.
Interment will follow at the Pierce-Bond Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Atlantic City Medical Center and Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital for their care of Betty during her illness.
