Ms. Kathy Lavon Carpenter


KINGSPORT — Ms. Kathy Lavon Carpenter, 1713 Park St., departed this life Friday (Feb. 15, 2013) at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital after a brief illness.


She was born in Rockwood, Tenn., but resided in Kingsport, for most of her life. She was a member of Mount Zion Holiness Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James L and Nellie D. Swafford; her brother Xavier Timothy Hall; and the father of her children, Jeffery Carpenter.

She is survived by her three daughters Ms. Anissa Carpenter, Mrs. Jennifer (Rashid) Dunn, and Kaliegha Alexander; two sons Javonte and Damonte Alexander; a sister, Mrs. Janet Horton; two brothers, Edward Bridgeman and Donavon L James Hall; and an aunt, Mrs. Mildred Hardy; six grandchildren; five nieces; and three great-nieces.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the hour of service Wednesday at Mount Zion Holiness Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon from the church with Pastor Lester Turner officiating.

Burial will follow at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, Va.
