Mrs. Lillie Novella Smith

KINGSPORT — Mrs. Lillie Novella Smith, 94, departed this life Sunday, (Sept. 29, 2013) at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center.

Mrs. Smith was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church. She was a native of Jonesbourgh, Tenn. making her home in Kingsport for the past 80 years.

Mrs. Smth was preceded in death by her husband Nelson D. Smith; for sisters; and five brothers.

Survivors include one son, Nelson D. Smith; two daughters, Mrs. Betty Jo King ( Homer) and Mrs. D. Olivia Smith (Libby); four sisters, Mrs. Mildred Parrott, Mrs. Hildred Manisfield, Mrs. Lois Clark and Mrs. Ella Clark; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great great- grandchildren; Special friend Ms. Rose Bogus.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Novella Smith will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. from the Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church with Pastor, Charles Hawkins officiating.

The family will receive friends from 11 to 1 p.m.

Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Carolyn “Bootsy” Ruth Maxwell


KINGSPORT — Mrs. Carolyn Ruth Maxwell died Friday, (Sept. 27, 2013) at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center.

She was born in Greeneville, Tenn on Aug. 21, 1946.  Carolyn and her husband Larry Maxwell both worked at Mead Paper, where Larry is still employed and resides in Kingsport, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cephus Smith and Angel Crum; brother Bobby Smith; and brother-in-law, Johnny Swagerty.

She leaves behind her loving and supportive husband Larry Maxwell; daughter, Mrs. Angela Morris and her husband James Morris of Canton, Miss., daughter Ms. Crystal Bell of Kingsport; a stepson, Larry Maxwell and his wife Mrs. Dina Maxwell; and stepdaughter, Ms. Alyria Maxwell of Greensboro, N.C.; sister, Pastor Geraldine Swagerty; her grandchildren are Ms. Kaquana Bell, Ms. Mekos Bell, Amos Bell, Anthony Williams, Christopher Bell and his wife Ms. Alyshia Bell, Donta Maxwell, Ms. Shekinah Smith and Myles Morris; special friend, Mrs.Doris Forby; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Carolyn was a loving kind person whom everyone fell in love with after they met her. She brought love, happiness and joy to her family. Her goal was to introduce Jesus Christ to every one she met, even if she had to introduce them to Jesus by showing His love through her. She showed her devotion to her love for Jesus Christ by faithfully being the President of Full Gospel Mission #1, a teacher of the Word of God, a pianist and a prayer warrior.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at Full Gospel Mission, Kingsport, Tenn. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Full Gospel Mission. Burial will follow at East Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Jerry H. Campbell

  KINGSPORT — Mr. Jerry H. Campbell, 66, of 3311 Watterson St. departed this life Thursday (Sept. 24, 2013) at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center.

He was a lifelong citizen of Kingsport.

Survivors include a son Tyrone Campbell and wife Celina; two sisters, Mrs. Barbara Allen of San Antonio, Texas, Mrs. Marilyn Lockett of Toledo, Ohio; two grandchildren, Ceron Campbell and Asia Campbell.

Memorial services will be conducted Saturday at 11 AM at the Clark Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service Inc, 802 E. Sevier Avenue, Kingsport. The family of Mr. Campbell will be officiating.

Mrs. Lucille Kyle Neil


KINGSPORT — Mrs. Lucille Kyle Neil, 86, departed this life on Friday, (Sept. 6, 2013) at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital.
She was born on May 17, 1927 in Whitesburg, Tenn. and lived most of her life in Kingsport.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Neil II; her parents, Ike and Flora Kyle; a brother Isaac “June” Kyle; and sister Josie Kyle.

She leaves to cherish her memory, devoted son William “Jr.” Neil III of Kingsport, Richard “Angela” Kyle of Knoxville; and daughter, Donna Harrell of Charlotte , N.C.; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; one sister Mrs. Gladys Parkey of Morristown; several nieces, nephews and relatives.

A very special thank you to Mrs. Carrie Cash and all the social workers who helped Mrs. Neil with her care and affairs.

Funeral services for Mrs. Neil will be conducted Wednesday from the Shiloh Baptist Church at noon with Pastor Dr. Kenneth Calvert officiating.

The family will receive friends from 11a.m. until the hour of service.

Burial will follow at Bent Creek Cemetery, Whitesburg, Tenn.

Angelia Renee (Phillips) Dillihunt


KINGSPORT — Mrs. Angelia Renee (Phillips) Dillihunt, 47, departed this life Wednesday (Aug. 28, 2013) at 11:50 a.m. at the home of Ms. Rhonda Williams, 1046 Reedy Place Apt #127, Kingsport, Tenn.
She was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Helen Ruth (Pierce) Phillips; her maternal grandparents, Fred and Mrs. Willie Mae Pierce; her paternal grandparents, Cashley and Mrs. Odessie Ree Phillips; and a little brother, Matthew Phillips.

Survivors include her father, Odie Phillips; one sister, Ms. Sharon Donella Phillips; two brothers, Larry (Dina) Maxwell and Anthony Phillips; nephews, Matthew, Logan and John John; niece, Khaliyah; a special cousin and caregiver, Ms. Rhonda Williams.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev James Whiteside officiating.
The family will receive friends from noon until the hour of service.

Burial will follow at East Lawn Cemetery.
