Charles Underwood Sr.
CHURCH HILL — Charles Reginald Underwood Sr., 59, went to be with his Lord on March 27, 2009, which was also his birthday.
He was married to Marilyn Cox Underwood. Through this union they were blessed with a son, Reggie Jr.
Reggie Sr. was employed at Lakeshore Mental Insitution in Knoxville as a Data Processing Supervisor for 27 years.
He was a member of Lyons Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, where he served as a trustee and choir member. He was also a member of the Layman’s Men’s Chorus of Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lafayette Underwood; mother, Helen Underwood Fain; uncle, Charles R. Underwood; and grandparents.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of 37 years, Marilyn; son, Reggie Jr. of Church Hill; grandchildren, Tyreke Lamar Underwood and Tia Chantel Underwood of Kingsport; sisters, Lillian (Clifford) Leeper and Sandra Wilmer, both of Church Hill, Bonney Underwood Abbott of Washington, D.C.; brother, (BL) Barney Lafayette Underwood, Washington, D.C.; aunts, Shirley (Willie) Liggett of Arlington, Va., Ethel R. Russell of Kingsport and Daisy Underwood Taylor of Pennsylvania; special mother-in-law, Mrs. Minnie Cox; and sisters and brother-in-law; and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
Calling hours are from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. James A. Snapp officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Church Hill Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Cox, Ronnie Cox, Eddie Cox, Anthony Harris, Richard Ford and Jonathan Harris.
Honorary pallbearers will be Reggie Leeper, Clifford Leeper, Billy Leeper, Lawrence Wilmer, Carlton Dixon, Cornell Dixon.

KINGSPORT — Mr. Wesley Allen Archer, 52, 1014 Dale St., departed this life on Saturday (March 14, 2009) after a brief illness.
Mr. Archer was a member of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his mother; father; grandmother; one brother; and one sister.
Survivors are his son, Mr. Justin
Archer; one brother, Mr. Lonnie Cox; several
nieces and nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon till the hour of service Thursday at Central Baptist Church and anytime at the son’s residence, 926 Larry Neil Way, Apt. #5, also at the brother’s residence on Carver Street.
Funeral services will be conducted at the church Thursday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Anthony Daniels officiating.
Interment will follow at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, Va .

Ada Victoria Clark Rogers
ROGERSVILLE — Ada Victoria Clark Rogers, 83, of Rogersville, passed away, Monday (March 9, 2009) at Wellmont Hawkins County Memorial Hospital.
She attended Swift Memorial Junior College and was a faithful follower of The Way Ministry.
Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Rogers, Sr.; parents, James and Annie Pearl Cobb Clark; brother, James A. Clark, II.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Rogers of Rogersville, Claudia Horton of Atlanta, Ga., Diana Rogers of Dallas, Texas, Edna Rogers, Georgia Rogers, both of Rogersville, Hazel Rogers Nordman and husband, Michael of Sturgeons Bay, Wis.; sons, Archie Rogers, Jr. and wife, Betty of Rogersville, Fred Rogers and wife, Charlotte of Morristown; grandchildren, Tonya Horton, Anthony Horton, Jr. and wife, Tracy, Kevin Rogers and wife, Darkenia, Lyntria Jones and husband, Aaron, Marcus Rogers, Ronnie Price, Donnie Price, Marga Handy and Victoria Nordman; greatgrandchildren, Kaden and Kaitlyn Rogers, Brandon and London Clemons, Olivia Horton, Amaya Jones and Anthony Handy; special friend, Harrison Spears; a host of nieces and nephews.
