Ozine Ivan Bly, Sr.


CHURCH HILL - Ozine Ivan Bly, Sr. was called home on April 21, 2016 after a brief illness. 

He was a pillar of both the Kingsport and New Canton Community of Church Hill. During his 76 years he dedicated his life to helping others and doing what he could do to advance the situation of those who needed him the most. 


He served the Kingsport Community as a former member of the Kingsport Housing Authority Board, the South Central Community Board, the Riverview Community Action Board, the Sons and Daughters of Douglass Alumni Board of Directors, and a charter member of the Great Golden Gathering of North East TN Board, member of the Kingsport Tomorrow Community Organization. He was a founding member of the New Canton Utility District Board, Honorary member of the Lyons Chapel Church, Hope Community Church and the New Canton Community Club, and a former member of the Church Hill Election Commission. Ozine was lovingly referred to as the "Mayor of New Canton."


   He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Bly, mother, Gladys Bly, father, Prentis Ivan "Crip" Taylor, sister, Priscilla Bly, brothers, Buster, Charles "Pap" and James Bly.


Survivors include his daughter; Laynette (Reggie) Alley, sons; Ozine Ivan (Edith) Bly, Jr., Nathan (Myra) Leeper. Grandsons; Prennis Alley and Nicholas Wolfe, granddaughter; Alexandria Wolfe. Great grandchildren; Ayden Shelton and Tessa Wolfe. Sisters; Dallas Waterson, Edith Jackson, Janie Goodwin, Delores Bly, Judy Phillips. Honorary son; Marlon Lyons and special friends William "Billy" Lyons, Jack Pierce and Angel Smith.  

Going home services will be held at 2 pm Sunday, April 24th at the Hope Community Church, 4540 West Stone Drive, Kingsport, TN. Pastor Doug Mouser will be officiating, and burial will follow in the Church Hill Memorial Gardens. 

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Sunday at the Church, and anytime at his residence.

Constance "Connie" Bradley



Constance D. Bradley “Connie” 57, passed away on Monday April 18, 2016.  

She was born November 28. 1959 in Johnson City, TN., and was a graduate of Science Hill High School. 

Connie was preceded in death by her father Robert L. Bradley, Sr.

She is survived by her mother Joan Bradley; daughter, Malekka S. Bradley(Robert Edmonds), son Nicholas B. Bradley(Michelle Collins). Grandchildren Abriana Edmonds, Elissia Edmonds, Cee’Laylaah Garner, and Ava Bradley. Siblings, Valdred Hartsaw (Jerry), Eileen Hodge, Kathy Bradley, Joe Bradley(Angelitti), Walter Bradley, and Sondra Bradley. Goddaughter Shaneah Hunter. Several Nieces and nephews and a host of cousins, along with best friend Peppi Simmons.


Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday April 23, 2016 at Friendship Baptist Church in Johnson City. 

The family will receive friends from 12:00pm to 1:00pm prior to the services. 

Burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Johnson City, TN.

Andrew Jackson Dover


KINGSPORT - Andrew Jackson Dover, 64, 1037 Bloomingdale Pike Kingsport, TN, departed this life on Monday, April 18, 2016 at his home.

He was born in Cliffside, NC. He was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School. He retired from Specialty Hospital in Johnson City, TN. 

He was preceded in death by his father, A.B. Dover; his sister, Ms. Lestine Dover Morrison; maternal grandmother, Hattie Estell Bristol; paternal grandfather and grandmother, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Robert Dover; and special friend, Constance (Connie) Bradley.

Surviving are his daughters, Ms. Angela Nicole Dover and Ms. Kezia Dover; mother, Evelyn Logans; granddaughter, Kekia Dover; brother, Robert Bristol of Baltimore, MD; sister, Colleen Smith of Kingsport, TN; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Andrew Dover will be conducted at Central Baptist Church on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 5:00 pm.

The family will receive friends beginning at 4pm until the hour of service. Interment will be Monday, April 25, 2016 at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Geneva Poole

Big Stone Gap, VA Geneva Poole, 77, passed away Sunday (April 17, 2016) at her home in Big Stone Gap, VA. She was a housewife and of the Baptist faith.


Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore R. Poole; a son, Jerry Poole; a grandson, Jamé M. Fleming; baby Alexa; baby Luke and seven deceased sibings.

Geneva is survived by her children, Delores Neeley of Smyrna, GA, John W. Neeley of Big Stone Gap, Debbie Ann Upchurch of Big Stone Gap, Bobbie Davis of Christiansburg, VA, Priscilla Rainwater of Smyrna, GA, Loretta Hall of Norton, VA and Ricky Poole of Big Stone Gap, VA. She also survived by her brother, Ray Charles Turner of Bland, VA; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 am to 10:30 am on Thursday (April 21, 2016) at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave W, Big Stone Gap, VA, before traveling in procession to Powell Valley Memorial Gardens.
Graveside funeral services will be at 11:00 am in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens Chapel with Rev. Sandra Jones officiating.
