Evelyn Beatrice Lollar

KNOXVILLE — Evelyn Beatrice Lollar of Knoxville, (Jan. 14, 1949- 2013), the daughter of the late Fred F. and Grace Stacy Lollar.


Evelyn was born in Kingsport. She was a member of the Clinton Chapel A-M-E Zion Church in Knoxville. She was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport, and a member of the Eastern Stars in Kingsport, and in Norwalk, Connecticut.

She retired from the Bank of America in Stanford, Conn.

She was preceded in death by brother, Charles A. Lollar; sisters, Freda Carnes, Elizabeth Weaver, Helen Lynch, and Zelma H. Russell.

Survivors include daughters, Vancha (Jack) Swick and Valerie Jennifer Lollar; grandsons, Elijah and Emmanuel Lollar; brother, George W. Sr. (Betty) Lollar, Marietta, Ga.; sisters, Shirley Patterson, Upper Marlboro, Md.; Margaret (David) Crutchfield, Suitland, Md.; Patricia (George) Wood, Clinton, Md.; Ada Vanessa (Greg) Overton, Jacksonville, Fla.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The Celebration of Life will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Clinton Chapel A.M.E Zion Church in Knoxville, with Rev. John Butler officiating.

Mrs. Virginia A. Ford

KINGSPORT — Mrs. Virginia A. Ford (Moma Gin), 88, departed this life Sunday (Oct. 13, 2013) after a brief illness.


Mrs. Ford was a native of Boone, N.C., making her home in Kingsport for the past 66 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lee Anderson and Mrs. Anna Turner Anderson; her husband, Willie Ford; and several brother and sisters.

Survivors include three sons, Mr. Jerry (Cindy) Ford, Kingsport; Mr. Wilbur (Marsha) Ford Lexington, Mass. and Mr. Thomas (Doris) Ford, Forest; four daughters/granddaughters, Mrs. Mary Helen (Carl) Evans, and Mrs. Margaret (Kelso) Ford Isom, both of Kingsport, Ms. Markita A. Ford Charlotte, N.C. and Mrs. Zenia (Lloyd) Bratton Acworth, Ga.; one sister, Mrs. Betty (Charles) Sawyers, Marion, Va.; ten grandchildren; 13, great- grandchildren; and one great- great-granddaughter; special friend, Mr. Harry Releford; and a special caregiver/niece Ms. Tonia Phillips.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. from the Central Baptist Church with Pastor Ricardo Dorcean officiating.

The family will receive friends from noon until the hour of service.

Burial will follow in New Canton Cemetery, Church Hill, Tenn.
