CHURCH HILL — James Nelson Leeper went home to be with the Lord on Feb. 25, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Johnson City, Tenn.
He was born on Feb. 26, 1950, in Hawkins County and was a resident of Church Hill, Tenn. At an early age he moved to Waco, Texas. For the past four years he resided in Morristown, Tenn. Mr. Leeper proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Leeper Sr. and Lucille; sisters, Frances River and Helen Leeper; brothers, Robert, Charles, Lawrence, and Carl, Jr.
He is survived by his daughter, Monique Leeper of Texas; brother, Donnie Leeper of Morristown; granddaughter, Jordan Bewer; and a host of relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Lyons Chapel AME Zion Church, New Canton, Tenn.

Lillian Long Deal
KINGSPORT — Mrs. Lillian Roberta Long Deal, (Big Moma), 92, of 317 Dunbar St., Kingsport, Tenn., died Friday (Feb. 21, 2014) at her home after a brief illness.
A native of Hawkins County, she had spent the past 80 years in Kingsport. She was also a member of Central Baptist Church.
Mrs. Deal was the eldest daughter of the late Willard and Ressie H. Long, Sr.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. James W. Deal, Sr.; a daughter, Ms. Lillian Yvonne Deal; one brother, Mr. Walter Long; and one sister, Ms. Virginia Cartwright.
Surviving are one son, Mr. James (Tina) W. Deal, Jr., Kingsport; one daughter, Ms. Charlyne Edwards, Kingsport; one sister, Ms. Helen Bunting, Kingsport; three brothers, Mr. Edward (Frances) Long, Kingsport, Mr. Willard (Betty) Long, Jr., Kingsport, and Mr. Cecil Long, St. Louis, Mo.; and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Bernice Brice, Kingsport, and Ms. Marge Bradley, Cleveland, Ohio.
The family would like to thank Dr. Randy McLaughlin and staff of Mountain State Medical Center and Mountain State Home Health and Hospice, for the care of their mother.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Central Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the hour of service.
Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Kingsport, Tenn.

David Roseborough
KINGSPORT — David Roseborough, 62, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday (Feb. 18, 2014) at his residence after a long illness.
Mr. Roseborough was born in Rock Hill, S.C., was a former resident of Fayetteville, N. C. and had lived in Kingsport most of his life.
He was a graduate of E.E. Smith Senior High School, Fayetteville, where he was an outstanding football and basketball player.
David retired as a heavy equipment operator, having worked on site preparation on Interstate 26, Interstate 81, Highway 11-W, Highway 394, Sullivan North High School, Sullivan South High School and Wellmont Bristol Regional Hospital. He was a member of A.M.E. Zion Church. David coached in the Kingsport City Parks and Recreational League.
Mr. Roseborough was preceded in death by his parents, James and Wilhelmina Stothers Roseborough Sr.; brother, James Brice Roseborough Jr.; sister, Carrie Fisher; niece, Leia Humpherys; brother in law, Quincy Evans; father in law, Joseph Fullen Vance; and a sister in law, Donna Vance.
He is survived by his loving wife and companion of 44 years, Wanda Vance Roseborough of the home; sisters, Alice Evans, Willie Catherine Roseborough, Francene Allen and husband, Ronnie, Josie Louise Roseborough, Mamie Humphreys, all of Fayetteville, Debora Ann Roseborough of Elizabeth City, N. C. and Myra Marie Welch and husband, Kelvin “Brian” of Raleigh, N.C.; brothers, Joe Brice and wife Chris of Alton, Ill., Danny W. Roseborough and wife Marilyn of The Republic of Korea and Joseph Roseborough and wife Teresa of Atlanta, Ga.; mother-inlaw, Faye Vance of Abingdon, Va.; sisters-in-law, Brenda Horn and husband, Gary of Richlands, Va., Joyce Blankenship and husband, Sam, Sandra Vance all of Abingdon, Karen Mullins and husband Tom, Mellissa Horne and husband Kenny of Oakwood, Va., Sherry Coleman and husband Donald of Kingsport, and Sylvia Roseborough of Columbia S.C.; brothers-in-law, Willard Vance, Ralph Vance and wife Wanda all of Oakwood, Ricky Vance of Church Hill, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews and several great- nieces and great-nephews.
A Private Celebration of Life Gathering for family, neighbors and close friends, will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga St., Kingsport.
Mr. Roseborough will be taken to Wiseman Mortuary, 431 Cumberland St., Fayetteville, N.C.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Union Oak A.M.E. Zion Church, 6544 Highway 301 South, Hope Mills, N.C.
A graveside will follow at Rockfish Memorial Park, 4017 Gillespie St., Fayetteville, N.C.
