Argil Bennett Jr.

(Johnson City, TN)

Argil Bennett, “Jr.”, age 62, of Johnson City, went to his Heavenly home on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Argil was born on October 17, 1952 in Johnson City, Tennessee, a son of the late Argil Bennett, Sr. and Lucy Hilton Bennett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Bennett.

Mr. Bennett had worked as a carpenter and was a United States Marine Corp veteran, having served in the Vietnam War.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sheila Morgan Bennett, of the home; three sons, Arron Bennett, of Pineville, WV, James Johnson II, Beckley, WV, and Jackie Johnson, of VA; two daughters, Ami Bennett and Michelle Johnson, both of Pineville, WV; two brothers, Sherman Bennett, Nashville, TN and Darrell Bennett, Gray, TN; four sisters, Diane Wilcox, of Johnson City, Kathy Scott and Frances Bennett, both of Elizabethton, and Betty Powers and Barbara Bennett, both of Johnson City; fifteen grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and “Brady and Baby”, his dogs.

A memorial service to honor the life of Mr. Argil Bennett, Jr. will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Thursday.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Johnson City Cancer Center, Dr. Vincente and her staff, Dr. Craig Matherne and Dr. Colvett and his staff, as well as Caris Hospice, for all their care and love shown to Argil during his illness.

Mrs. Deborah (Deb) Louise Webb

(Johnson City, TN)

Mrs. Deborah (Deb) Louise Webb departed this life on September 16, 2015 at her residence in Johnson City, Tennessee.
She was born in Hampton, Virginia on April 1, 1954.  She was a resident of Bristol, Virginia, but for the past 15 years she has resided in Johnson City, Tennessee.  Deborah attended Virginia Intermont College and Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia.  She was also an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
 
Proceeded her in death, her mother Mrs. Louise W. Johnson;  sister Mrs. Valerie (Val) Charlene Stewart; and brother Mr. Kevin Fersner.
 
Survivors include her daughter, Ms. Adasha (Poo) Webb; father Rev. Dr. W.A. Johnson; stepmother Mrs. Carolyn W. Johnson; sisters Ms. Brenda Greene; and Mrs. Carolyn Hope (Robert) Ampudia; Mrs. Willis (Festus) Johnson; brothers Mr. Michael (Dorothea) Fersner; Mr. Jerry Johnson, Mr. Troy Fersner, brother-in-law Mr. Robert (Bud) Stewart;  nieces Ms. Lena (Ena) Greene, Ms. Carolyn (Jeri) Stewart, Ms. Anna Scott, Ms. Brittney Yates, Ms. Megan Yates, Ms. Marshena (Sissy) Fersner, and Ms. Brooke Fersner; great-nieces Ms. Ty'Myra Stewart, Ms. Amita Gaitor, and Ms. Arriyah Fersner; nephews Mr. Emmanual (Coodie) Johnson, Mr. Michael (Brother) Fersner, Mr. Kyle Fersner, and Mr. Robert (Bam) Dunk; great-nephew Mr. Ty'Quan Stewart; along with several uncles, aunts, cousin and friends.
 
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM on Monday, September 21, 2015 at the Lee Street Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. W. A. Johnson pastor, and Rev. William J. Reid, eulogist.
 
The family will receive friends from 12 PM to the hour of service.  Burial will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery, Bristol, VA.

Douglas (Doug) Hampton

Douglas (Doug) Hampton, 52, formerly of Stonega, VA passed away unexpectedly in Phoenix, Arizona.  He was a graduate of Appalachia High School in the Class of 1982.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Hampton, his maternal grandparents, Buford and Mary Hampton.

He is survived by his parents Michael Patrick of Knoxville,  and Ruthie Mae Hampton Wells of Plainfield, N.J., one brother Dennis Wayne Wells of Piscataway, N.J., one sister Doreen (Alex) Ellis of Somerset, N.J., and a host of relatives he leaves behind to mourn his sudden passing.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the First Missionary Baptist Church, located at 510 Wyandotte Avenue in Big Stone Gap, VA beginning at 11 AM.

A brief memorial service will follow the receiving of friends, with the Reverend William Hampton officiating.   All condolences are asked to be brought to the church during this time.

Walter Edward Brice

Walter Edward (Ed) Brice, of Rogersville, TN departed this life on Monday, September 7, 2015 at the Signature Health Care Center after a long illness.


Ed, as he was fondly called, was born October 19, 1938 to the late Walter and Leola (Goins) Brice.

The oldest of eight children, Ed took the role of helping his mother raise 7 other brothers and sisters after the untimely death of their father when he was still a young boy.  He retired from Holston Valley Hospital, Kingsport, Tennessee.


Ed was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Mary Dorothy Ewing and Shirley B. Looney, brothers William Lawrence and Donnie Lynn Brice.


Ed is survived by his children, Donald Brice, Ronnie Brice, Jerry Brice (Peggy), Linda Brice, Deborah Barner (Allen), and the mother of his children Marvia Brice.  He also leaves to cherish his memory his devoted sister-in-law Stella Brice-Pyles, his brothers Jim Brice, Sr., and Charles Brice, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Rosemarie Brice and Linda Brice, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends anytime at the home of his sister Stella at 500 Watterson Street, Rogersville, TN or his brother Jim Brice, 240 Dunbar Street, Kingsport, TN and from 12 PM to 1 PM on Thursday, September 10th, 2015 at the Christian-Sells Funeral Home in Rogersville.  Funeral services will follow at 1 PM with Elder Hugh Allen Hale officiating.  Burial will follow in the Brice Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.christiansells.com
