Rev. Lillie Mae McCrary

NORTON, Va. — Rev. Lillie Mae McCrary, 84, died Friday, (Dec. 2, 2011) in Mountain View Regional Medical Center.

She was a member and assistant pastor at Blackman Chapel AME Zion in Norton.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl McCray and her second husband, Willie McCrary.

She is survived by two daughters, Lena Foster and her husband, David of Coeburn, Ophelia Forney of Norton; four sons, of Norton, Robert Forney Thomas Forney and his wife Edna of Coeburn, Timothy Forney of Norton, Paul Forney and his wife Kim of Norton; daughter-in-law, Wanda Forney of Baltimore, Md.; 30 grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; aunt, Beatrice Livingston; cousin, Breford Hamilton; niece, Carolyn Johnson; special friends, Sadie Coleman, Richard Lomax, T.D. Lassiter, Frieda Sensabaugh and Effella Goodgame.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Leslie Lee Jr., Rev. Joseph Comage and Rev. Todd French officiating.

Burial will follow in the Oak View Cemetery in Big Stone Gap.

Michael Lynn Hill Jr.

KINGSPORT — Mr. Michael Leon Hill, Jr. 42 of 929 Dale St. Kingsport, departed this life Thursday (Nov. 17, 2011) at his residence.
A native of Omaha, Neb., he has lived in Kingsport the last one and a half years. He was an employee of Rail link at Eastman.
Surviving are his wife Mrs. Tekeesha Porter-Hill; two sons Savion Robinson Omaha, Neb. and Patrick Porter; one daughter Shiarre Porter; father, Michael Leon Hill Sr., Omaha, Neb.; father and mother-in-law Michael and Glenda Vaughn; two brothers Ernest Hill, Omaha, Neb., Eugene Hill, Omaha, Neb.; and one sister, Imelda Michelle Hill, Omaha, Neb.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mary Johnson

KINGSPORT — Mary Long Johnson, 94, of Kingsport, passed away on Monday (Oct. 17, 2011) at the Wexford House.

Born in Hawkins County (New Canton), she lived most of her life in Kingsport. She previous attended AME Zion United Methodist Church and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Johnson; parents, Samuel and Sallie Watterson Long; three sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Stewart and Wanda Johnson, both of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Nina Stewart, Seana Meddling and Joy Stewart; two great-grandchildren, John Meddling and Peyton Stewart; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga St., Kingsport.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Anthony Daniels officiating.

Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Mrs. Gladys Hoard

KINGSPORT — Mrs. Gladys Christine Hoard, 75, 223 Carver St., Kingsport, departed this life on Oct. 18, 2011, at Holston Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. Hoard was a member of Central Baptist Church and made her home here in Kingsport for the past 55 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. William Harold Hoard; daughter, Ms. Sandra Hoard; mother, Mrs. Dennie Ford; father, Mr. Ernest Ford Sr.; brother, Mr. Ernest Ford; sisters, Ms. Ann Ford and Ms. Olivia Ford.

Survivors are son, Mr. Howard Hoard and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Mrs. Pamela Hoard; two daughters, Ms. Patricia A. Hoard, Pennington Gap, Va., Ms. Diane L. Hoard Hogans, Midway Park, N.C.; three grandsons, Bryant Hogans, Drew Hoard and Justin Hoard; one granddaughter, Malinda Hogans Love; one brother, Mr. Charles Lewis Ford; one sister, Mrs. Rachel Price; devoted in-laws, Mrs. Doretha (Carrol) Charles, Mrs. Phillip (Linda) Hoard; devoted niece and nephew, Linda and Travis Kincaid; devoted friends, Ms. Beulah Banner, Ms. Marie Thompson and Ms. Ollie Perry.

A funeral service for Mrs. Gladys Christine Hoard will be conducted from Central Baptist Church on Saturday at 3 p.m. with Pastor Ricardo F. Dorcean officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the hour of service.

The interment service will be conducted from the V.A. National Cemetery on Monday at 2 p.m. The cortège will depart from Central Baptist Church at 1 p.m.

Deacon Dorris Kincaid

ROGERSVILLE — Deacon Dorris Kincaid, Aug. 9, 1922, departed this life on Oct. 11, 2011, at Signature Health Care of Rogersville, Tenn.

She was a devoted worker of Hasson Street Christian Church. She held many positions: Sunday school teacher, President of the Senior Choir, Secretary of the Church and Deacon which was her passion. She was a Swift club member, Eastern Star, and Auxillary member.

Deacon Kincaid was an LPN at Hawkins County Memorial Hospital, Wellmont Hospital, Kingsport, and Hamblen County Hospital, Morristown, Tenn. Her medical position went far beyond the walls of any hospital. She was faithful to the community, there was no family that she would turn down; whether it was to take a blood pressure, a temperature, take a traveling family child into her home, or delivering news of a death to a family. She was always there to lend a helping hand.

She was preceded in death by her father, George James; mother, Agnes James; stepmother, Virginia James; brother, George James Jr., and her husband, Andrew Kincaid.

She leaves to mourn, her daughter, Mary Katherine Saunders (Jake Saunders), of Radford, Va.; Andrew (Bud) Kincaid of Rome; and devoted
daughter, Marsha Kincaid, who was there by her side when she took her last breath; several grandchildren; nieces and nephews; special and devoted grandchildren, Jessica Kincaid, Whitesburg, Tenn.; great- granddaughter, Alexis Kincaid, Nicole (Nikki) Franklin (Lucas), granddaughter, of Knoxville, Tenn., who was also there holding her hand at the time of her crossing over.

She was loved deeply by the hearts of friends and relatives, Wanda Jackson and Marissa McKie , became her chosen granddaughters. Their dedicated and supportive kindness will always be remembered, as well as Brenda Rogers, and Conner and Phyllis Lawson were always by the family’s side. The family wishes to thank the Deacons and Elders and members of Hasson Street Christian Church, Pastor Green, former pastor of Russell Chapel A.M.E. Zion Methodist Church, for all his visitations, and all those individuals that loved and supported them through this time of sadness.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. Saturday at Hasson Street Christian Church. Funeral services will follow at the church with Pastor Roy Charles and Pastor LaMarco Cable officiating. Interment will follow at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens.

James E. Beatty

KINGDSPORT — James E. Beatty, 82, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, (Sept.8, 2011) at Brookhaven Manor, Kingsport.

Mr. Beatty was born in Hazard, Ky. and had lived in Kingsport since 1958. He served in the U.S. Army, during the Korean Conflict and was retired from Turner Paving Company. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church for over 60 years.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Edith K. Taylor Beatty in 2009; his parents, Marzell and Mary Lucille Henry Beatty; nine sisters and nine brothers.

He is survived by his daughter, Tiffany Beatty Butts and husband, Mark of Kingsport; son, Wesley Austin of Johnson City; grandchildren, Nyashia Grady, Aushiatyyonna Grady, Fredrica Grady, Markita Rodgers and Koda Wesley Austin Jr; three sisters, Minister Grace Sanford of Hampton Va., Revella Combs and husband, Pete of Hazard, Ky., Virginia Hill and husband, Billy of Kingsport; three brothers, Rev. Calvin Beatty of Kingsport, Robert Beatty of Kingsport, Jerry Beatty of Kansas City, Mo.; special sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Hodge; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, 712 E. Sevier Avenue, Kingsport.

A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the church with Rev. Dr. Kenneth Calvert, Rev. Eric Lockett and Rev. Phil Goins officiating.

Music will be provided by the church choir.

Military graveside services will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport conducted by the American Legion Post # 3 and Post #265 with Tennessee National Guard.

Pallbearers will be the Tennessee National Guard Honor Guard.
