Mrs. Watterson came to Kingsport from Cliffside, N.C., as a young woman. She was a devoted member of Shiloh Baptist Church for many years. Mrs. Watterson served in the Golden Saints, Sunday School and Choir. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting and sewing. Most of all she loved serving the Lord, loved her church and loved people. She was active in several civic organizations such as the Eastern Star, Women’s Service League, True Blue Club and Missionary Circle #2.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Watterson; her parents, Elzy and Jayvester Lynch Littlejohn; her stepmother, Maudie Littlejohn, and two sisters, Sue Thomas and Eula Elliott.
Survivors include her special cousin and friend, Jennibelle Bristol; special cousin, Sarah Smith and husband, James, of Gray; nephew, James Elliott and wife, Frances, of Cliffside, N.C.; brother-in-law, Richard Watterson and wife, Barbara, of Johnson City, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. on Monday at Shiloh Baptist Church, 712 E. Sevier Ave., Kingsport.
Funeral services will follow in the Church at 12:30 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Calvert, officiating.
Music will be provided by the church choir.
Burial will be in the Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
