Archie Rogers Jr.

  ROGERSVILLE — Archie Rogers Jr., 65, of Rogersville fell asleep awaiting for the Lord’s return on Sunday (March 3, 2014) at Wellmont Hawkins County Memorial Hospital.

He was a member of Hasson Street Christian Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served his country as a SGT in Korea. He also received the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), an Expert Badge (M-16 Rifle) and a Marksman Badge (M-14 Rifle).

He was a retiree of the TVA John Sevier Steam Plant.   He was an active member in the Rogersville community and was well thought of by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie Sr. and Ada Rogers; and loving wife of 36 years, Betty Rogers.

He is survived by his sisters, Brenda, Edna and Georgia Rogers of Rogersville, Claudia Horton and Diana Rogers of Atlanta, and Hazel Michael) Nordman of Wisconsin; brother, Fred (Charlotte) Rogers of Morristown; special nephews, Cory and Morgan Maxwell; and a host of nieces, nephews, special friends and relatives.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Christian-Sells Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Charles officiating.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. prior to services.

Military honors and interment will follow at the Mitchell Crest Cemetery.
