Robert E. Hale Sr.

KINGSPORT — “For we walk by Faith and not by sight” and on Sunday (March 30, 2014), Robert E. Hale Sr. was allowed to faithfully rest in the arms of Jesus after a brief illness.

Since his birth on April 14, 1924 in Toms Creek, Va. to the late Anne and Gurney Hale Sr., his life was full of excitement, laughter, and craftsmanship. He loved to tell stories of his childhood, courtship and marriage, his time with his family, friends and co-workers. He loved God, his family, and life itself.

His marriage to the late Mrs. Rebecca Moore Hale lasted 67 years and brought six children. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and retired from Eastman after 32 years of service. He was the oldest of 13 brothers and sisters.

Others preceding his death are his step-mother, Mrs. Geraldine Hale; his brothers, Huell Antoine and William Darrell Hale; an uncle William “Red” Hale; an adopted great-grandson Christopher Hale; and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Brenda Simpson Hale.

He leaves to mourn his sons, Fred L. Hale (Carolyn Dulaney Hale) of Jacksonville, Fla.; Robert E. Hale Jr. of Atlanta, Ga., Carl E. Hale (Chynet Bond-Hale) of Kingsport, William E. Hale (Tarik Hassan) of Kingsport; his daughters, Dolores H. Singleton of Jackson, Tenn. Linda L. Wade (Rev. Donny Wade) of Kingsport; his brothers, Gurney E. Hale (Ruthie) of Christiansburg, Va., Edward E. Hale of Coalwood, W. Va., Larry D. Hale of Washington, D.C., Tevis L. Hale (Yolanda) of Coalwood, W. Va. and Lamont A. Hale (Midori) of Odenton, Md.; his sisters, Ms. Brenda Hale Felder, Ms. Valerie Hale Thorpe, Ms. Phyllis Hale Grubb (Allen), and Ms. Carolyn Hale Spriggins (Rev. Hiawatha Spriggins), all of Blacksburg, Va., and Ms. Clara Jackson of Kingsport ; a sister-in-law, Ms. Donzella Hale of Columbus, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Richard Lomax of Big Stone Gap, Va.; his best friend, Ralph Watterson, Allen Howell; a special god son, Ed Fanney, Jr.; a loving care giver Allison Caswell of Kingsport; 20-grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and one great- -great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Homegoing Services will be held at the Central Baptist Church, 301 Carver Street, Kingsport Tenn. on Friday, April 3, 2014 at 12 noon.

The family will receive friends at 11 a.m. until the hour of the service, and anytime at 4017 Black Oak Drive, Kingsport.

Military Interment will follow the service at the VA National Cemetery, Mountain Home, Tenn.

Mark Anthony McMiller

KINGSPORT — Mark Anthony McMiller was born on April 22, 1952, in Kingsport to the Rev. George and Mrs. Elma McMiller.

He departed this life Monday, March 17, 2014.

Mark lived the majority of his life in Kingsport and was a graduate of Douglass High School. He was a member of the Great Commission Church.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Marcus Lewis; his sister, Ms. Marie Vault; six brothers, George Jr., Joe Allen Sr., Edward Lee, William, James and Dwike; and a niece, Ms. Marion Harold.

He leaves to cherish his memory a sister, Ms. Shirley Wagstaff; a devoted companion, Ms. Jeannie Brice; two sisters-inlaw, Ms. Wanda McMiller and Ms. Dorothea McMiller; six nieces, Ms. Jackie Copridge, Mrs. Denise Horton (Henry), Ms. Jacqueline McMiller, Ms. Candice James, Mrs. Wilbrena Thomas (Warren) and Mrs. Nikki Henderson (Q); a nephew, Mr. Brian McMiller; several great-nieces and nephews, and many friends.

A memorial service will be conducted Friday at Central Baptist Church, Kingsport.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. with the service immediately afterward.

Marion "Squeakie" Harold

Marion E. (Squeakie) Harold was given life January 14, 1961 to Mary E. Beatty and William H. McMiller.

Marion was a proud mother of two sons, Eric & Jazmine Cox. Also, grandmother of Erica Cox, Jada Cox, Blake Baldwin and Justyce Cox.

She spent the majority her life in Kingsport, Tennessee. Later in her life Marion decided to move to Newport News, Virginia to pursue the life of happiness.

While working with her Shoney's family, she spread joy and happiness throughout the crew. Marion was best characterized by her compassionate and generous spirit. Marion was a true friend and always ready to step in to defend those she held dear.

Marion always had a knack for bringing the best out of people.

On the evening of February 28, 2014, at the age of 53, Marion was called home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

To cherish fond memories are her mother, Mary Beatty, sisters Tammy Martin and Wilbrena Lyons-Thomas, brothers Tyrone Cox and Brian McMiller, nieces Morgan Cox and India Cox, nephews Josh Cox, Cameron Cox and Jordan Gaylon, as well as a host of family and friends.

Memorial services will be held noon Saturday March 8, 2014 in the Chapel of C.C. Carter Funeral Home. by Minister Dorothy Riddick of First Church (Baptist ) Newport New.

Archie Rogers Jr.

  ROGERSVILLE — Archie Rogers Jr., 65, of Rogersville fell asleep awaiting for the Lord’s return on Sunday (March 3, 2014) at Wellmont Hawkins County Memorial Hospital.

He was a member of Hasson Street Christian Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served his country as a SGT in Korea. He also received the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), an Expert Badge (M-16 Rifle) and a Marksman Badge (M-14 Rifle).

He was a retiree of the TVA John Sevier Steam Plant.   He was an active member in the Rogersville community and was well thought of by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie Sr. and Ada Rogers; and loving wife of 36 years, Betty Rogers.

He is survived by his sisters, Brenda, Edna and Georgia Rogers of Rogersville, Claudia Horton and Diana Rogers of Atlanta, and Hazel Michael) Nordman of Wisconsin; brother, Fred (Charlotte) Rogers of Morristown; special nephews, Cory and Morgan Maxwell; and a host of nieces, nephews, special friends and relatives.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Christian-Sells Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Charles officiating.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. prior to services.

Military honors and interment will follow at the Mitchell Crest Cemetery.

Lee Anders Clement

KINGSPORT — Lee Anders Clement, 48 departed this life Sunday (Feb. 26, 2014) at his residence. He was preceded in death by his father and mother; and one sister.

Survivors include one daughter, Ms. Meiasha Belton; two sisters, Ms. April Clement and Ms. Laura Clement; and several nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. from the Shiloh Baptist Church with Dr. Kenneth Calvert officiating.
