Kathryn White
KINGSPORT — Kathryn White was born in New York City to Harry and Frances White. Loving grandparents, Hord and Violetta Armstrong, brought Kathryn to Kingsport at an early age to raise and spoil. She attended Douglass High School where she graduated in 1965. After attending ETSU for a year, she moved back to New York to be closer to her parents. There she worked and attended City College of New York.
In 1978, Kathryn returned to Kingsport to live with her aging grandfather. After overcoming some personal struggles, she entered Steed College which led to her career of 26 years with Eastman Chemical Company, retiring in January 2007. During those years Kathryn served on the Board of Directors for Kingsport Nursery School.
She also became the first female member of Kingsport Optimist Club, and Daughter Ruler of Dunbar Temple, Daughter of Elks.
Known by everyone in the community as Chee-Chee, Kathryn enjoyed music, fellowshipping and working with groups and offering help to anyone struggling
with addictions.

Kathryn was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church and has three brothers, Harry, Harrison, and Howard; two loving nieces, Nina and Chevonda; and one nephew,
Christopher.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. at St. Mark United Methodist Church.
Elks service will be at 2 p.m. with the funeral services following at 3 p.m. with Pastor Mark Huffine officiating.
Interment will follow at New Providence Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
