Mr. William Andrew Evans

KINGSPORT — Mr. William Andrew Evans, 86, departed this life on Tuesday (June 5, 2012).



He was born at Horse Creek, Tenn., one of seven children of Fate and Ada Evans.

Mr. Evans retired from Tennessee Eastman at the time of the explosion in 1960. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of American Legion Burdine Post 123. During his lifetime he enjoyed hunting and fishing along with spending time with his family. William enjoyed “cruising” in his Big Blue Ram truck and visiting his friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; two brothers; his wife, Julia; and sons Ricky and Carl.

His love and life will be remembered by two daughters, Kathy Evans and Gail Evans, Kingsport; three sons, William Earl Evans (Stacy), Kansas City, Mo., Dale Evans (Marie), Norfolk, Va., and John Evans (Shaun), Kingsport; one sister, Willie Bond, Kingsport; one sister-in-law, Betsy Pierce (Jack); and brother-in-law, Hugh Hodges; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation with the family will take place at Central Baptist Church on Friday from 10 a.m. to noon.

Graveside services will be held at VA National Cemetery, Mountain Home, Tenn., at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Billy Pearson officiating.
