Mrs. Mettie (Bea) Banner




KINGSPORT — Mrs. Mettie Beatrice Banner, better known as (Bea), departed this life on Wednesday (May 30, 2012), at Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness.



Mrs. Banner was 73 years of age and was born in Grainger County, Tenn. She moved to Kingsport as a young girl and retired from Holston Valley Hospital after 43 years of service. Mrs. Banner was a member of Mount Zion Holiness Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Bennie L. Banner; father, Mr. Mildred K. Tate; mother, Mrs, Mattie E. Tate; three brothers, Mildred Jr., John and Bobby Tate; special nephew, Brad Pierce.

Mrs. Banner is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Pamela Hughes; granddaughter, Ms. Jennifer Hughes; grandson, Mr. Christopher Hughes; great-grandson, Mr. DeSean Hughes; great-granddaughter, Zoey Pierce; four sisters, Mrs. Marian (Nancy) Kyle, Mrs. Vera Jackson, Mrs. Imogen Kyle and Ms. Patsy Pierce; great uncle, Mr. John Mannuel; great aunt, Mrs. Molly Mannuel and a host of nephews and nieces.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mettie Beatrice Banner will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Mount Zion Holiness Church with the Rev. Lester Turner officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. till the hour of service.

The interment will follow at East Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call on the family at anytime at 247 Carver St.
