Mrs. Mildred Earsline Hardy

KINGSPORT — Mrs. Mildred Earsline Hardy, 85, passed away after a brief illness on April 15, 2013.  She was born June 4, 1927 in Pikeville, Tenn.


At age 18 she married Luther Lewis Hardy her husband of 59 years. To the union five children where born, Ms. Thelma J. Robinson, Ms. Claudia Y. Maxwell, John L. Hardy, Roy Y. Hardy, and Robert L. Hardy and one adopted son Antonio L. Hardy.

Mildred was a former employee of Kingsport Press later she became a professional cook for the Kings of Mason Dixon Corporation. Mildred was a member of Mount Zion Tabernacle Holiness Church. In 2010, she became one of the original five “Elect ladies” of Mount Zion Tabernacle.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters; one son Roy; four sisters, Ms. Krististine Robertson, Ms. Mary Reynolds, Ms. Catherine Wilkerson, and Ms. Helen Tellos; two brothers, Claudius Lawson and James Swafford. 
 
 She is survived by three sons, John (Betty) Hardy, Robert Hardy, and Antonio Hardy all of Kingsport; 18 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. from the Central Baptist Church with Pastors Elder Lester Turner and Rev. Ricardo Dorcean officiating.   The family will receive friends from noon until the hour of service.

Burial will be Monday at 11:30 a.m. at the Dept. of Veterans affairs, VA National Cemetery, Mt. Home, Tenn. The cortege will depart from Central Baptist Church Monday at 10:30 a.m. for the committal service.
