John Douglass Bond
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — John Douglass Bond, son of Alfred and Virginia Bond of Horse Creek, was called to eternal life on Saturday (Aug. 10, 2013). He was 83 years old.
He was the 11th child and born in Kingsport, Tenn., where he attended school. John was drafted into the Army and served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1953 and settled in Atlantic City, N.J. There he met and fell in love with Members L. Bond. John loved being with family and enjoyed going home to Kingsport for the annual family reunions.
John worked for Darden Construction Co. for many years and later as a supervisor of maintenance for Barlinvus Apartments Complex. John retired and moved to Fayetteville, N.C., where he lived for the last 16 years. While he was there Daddy enjoyed working with his hands. He built bird houses and picnic tables. Daddy loved tending to his garden and always made sure the grass around the house was well kept.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 58 years, Members L. Bond of Fayetteville; sons, Clifton Bond of Camden, N.J., and Adrian (Carolyn) Bond of Plainsfield, N.J.; daughters, Terri (Ganeshan) of Sticklerville, N.J., and Sharon J. (Tony) Dabney of Atlantic City, N.J.; brother, Orvel (Beatrice) Bond of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Cameron, Michaelle and Ganeshan Jr.; a very dedicated nephew and niece, Jamie and Kim Cohill of Fayetteville; a host of nieces and nephews; and many good friends.
Services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Wiseman Mortuary, 431 Cumberland St., Fayetteville, N.C.
