Mrs. Rebecca Moore Hale

KINGSPORT —Mrs. Rebecca Moore Hale, 88, of 4017 Black Oak Drive, Kingsport, answered the call of Jesus at home on Saturday, (Aug. 3, 2013) after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Hale was born on June 2, 1925 in Osaka, Va. She graduated valedictorian of her class from Osaka High School. On May 13, 1946 she and Robert E. Hale, Sr. were united in marriage. In 1952, her family moved to Kingsport. She was active in her church where she loved singing in the choir; active in the community where she was a member of the Eastern Stars, an Esquirette, a hospital volunteer, and a community mother. She loved cooking, floral arranging, and raising her six children, foster children, and later adopting two of her great-grandchildren. She truly enjoyed her lunch dates with “The Ladies.”
Preceded in death were her loving mother, Mrs. Anna Robbins; her sister, Mrs. Mattie Carnes; a great-grandchild, Christopher Hale; and her special niece, Mrs. Mary Jane Carnes.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Robert E. Hale Sr. of the home; her sons, Freddie L. Hale and wife Mrs. Carolyn Dulaney Hale of Jacksonville, Fla., Robert E. Hale Jr. and wife Mrs. Brenda Simpson Hale of Atlanta, Ga., Carl E. Hale and wife Mrs. Chynet Bond Hale of Kingsport, William E. Hale (Tarik Hassan) of Kingsport; her daughters, Mrs. Dolores A. Hale Singleton of Brownsville, Tenn., and Mrs. Linda L. Hale Wade and husband Rev. Donny D. Wade of Kingsport; 19 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Lomax of Big Stone Gap, Va., several nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

The family would like to especially thank her caregiver whom we’ve adopted to the family, Mrs. Allison Caswell and husband Jimmy. We would also like to thank Dr. Andy Delwadia, the Holston Valley -5th Floor Doctors and Nurses, and Wellmont Hospice for their care, love and support.

Friends may call on the family at the home, 4017 Black Oak Drive, Kingsport. The family will receive friends from 11 am to noon at Central Baptist Church, 301 Carver Street, Kingsport until the time of service.

Services will be conducted at noon Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the church with the Rev. Vincent Dial, Rev. Ricardo Dorcean, and Rev. Donny Wade officiating.

The Interment will follow at the VA National Cemetery, Mountain Home, Tenn.
