Barbara J. Bly


CHURCH HILL — Barbara Jean (Long) Bly was born on June 28, 1943 and went home to be with the Lord on Thursday (Oct. 31, 2013).

Barbara was born and raised in the New Canton community in Church Hill, Tenn. where she attended Lyons Chapel Church. She attended
Swift High School and Walters State Community College. She was a graduate of the Kingsport School of Nursing where she received her LPN3 license. She was employed for 26 years as a nurse at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, before retiring in 1997.

Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to all who knew her. She was always willing to lend a helping hand.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Maggie Long; brother, William Thomas (Sunny-boy) Long; and sister, Cathy Leeper.

She is survived by her father, William Thomas Long, Sr.; husband, Ozine I. Bly, Sr.; daughter, Laynette and Reginald Alley; sons, O. Ivan and Edith Bly, Jr., Nathan and Myra Leeper; granddaughter, Alex Wolfe; grandsons, Nichlous Wolfe and Prennis Alley; sisters, Irene Richmond, Helen Long, Inez Gillepie, Marlene and Roy Richmond, Romelda Moore; brothers, Danny Long, Joe Leeper; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the Johnson Funeral Home of Church Hill and anytime at the residence.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Joe Comage officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted Monday following the service at Church Hill Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Keith Richmond, Randy Moore, Ryan Moore, Roy Richmond, Nichlous Wolfe, and Prennis Alley. Honorary pallbearers will be William Lyons and Richard Ford.
