Dorothy Imogene Fugate


Rogersville - On Thursday (July 16, 2015), Dorothy Imogene Fugate fell asleep after a brief illness, and is currently awaiting the return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She was born July 2, 1934, to Samuel Summer and Hattie Lee Trammel of Rogersville,  She was the sixth of ten children.  She attended Price Public Elementary School and Swift High School, and received an Associate's Degree from the last graduating class of Swift Memorial Junior College in 1955.  Imogene was a retiree of TRW Automotive in Rogersville, Tennessee.

She was married to the late Robert Fugate in 1957 and was the mother of four children.  Imogene was the proud grandmother of five granddaughters, whom she cherished dearly:  Kia Fugate, Whitney Fugate, Rachel Gardenhire, Jessica Gardenhire, and Sophia Fugate.

Imogene was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Trammel, brothers William, Samuel, James, and John, her sister Marilyn, and her oldest son Robert Aaron.

Left to cherish Imogene's memory are her children Tony of Rogerville, Michael of Brunswick, Georgia, Mary Madeline (Richard) Gardenhire of Cleveland, Ohio;  brothers Maurice Trammel and Phillip (Connie) of Rogersville;  Charlie Trammel of Detroit, Michigan, sister Carolyn A. Cox of Kingsport;  sisters-in-law Gertrude Trammel of Chattanooga, Joanne Long of Huntsville, Alabama, and a host of loving nieces, nephews and loving friends.. also a very special friend who was dear to her heart, Roy Dennis of Rogersville.

A visitation with the family will take place from 10 AM to 11 AM on Wednesday at the Russell Chapel AME Zion Church, 307 N. Hasson Street, Rogersville, Tennessee.

A memorial service will follow at 11 AM.
