Kathryn White

KINGSPORT — Kathryn White was born in New York City to Harry and Frances White. Loving grandparents, Hord and Violetta Armstrong, brought Kathryn to Kingsport at an early age to raise and spoil. She attended Douglass High School where she graduated in 1965. After attending ETSU for a year, she moved back to New York to be closer to her parents. There she worked and attended City College of New York. In 1978, Kathryn returned to Kingsport to live with her aging grandfather. After overcoming some personal struggles, she entered Steed College which led to her career of 26 years with Eastman Chemical Company, retiring in January 2007. During those years Kathryn served on the Board of Directors for Kingsport Nursery School.

She also became the first female member of Kingsport Optimist Club, and Daughter Ruler of Dunbar Temple, Daughter of Elks. Known by everyone in the community as Chee-Chee, Kathryn enjoyed music, fellowshipping and working with groups and offering help to anyone struggling with addictions. Kathryn was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church and has three brothers, Harry, Harrison, and Howard; two loving nieces, Nina and Chevonda; and one nephew, Christopher.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. at St. Mark United Methodist Church. Elks service will be at 2 p.m. with the funeral services following at 3 p.m. with Pastor Mark Huffine officiating. Interment will follow at New Providence Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Anthony John Bly

KINGSPORT — Anthony John Bly, 51, of Kingsport, passed away on Saturday (March 31, 2012), at the Holston Valley Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 12, 1960, in Manhattan, N.Y., and was the son of the late John and Alberta Nolen Bly. Anthony had lived in the Bristol area for the past six years. He was an employee with the Department of Agriculture. Survivors include daughter, Koren Gamble; sons, Sean Bly and wife, Sharia Bly, Collin Bly and Tevin Bly; four grandchildren; fiancée, Renee Rudd. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Friday before the funeral service at the Weaver Funeral Home, 630 Locust St., Bristol. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Smith officiating. Online condolences may be registered at www.weaverfuneralhome.net. Ms. Annie L. Johnson

KINGSPORT — Annie L. Johnson, 69, 837 Dale St. Kingsport, departed this life, Saturday, (March 31, 2012) at Indian Path Hospital.

Ms. Johnson attended Ebenezer Baptist Church. She retired from Greystone Health Care and was a dedicated caretaker for Mrs. Nora Alexander.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Elberta Johnson; father; Mr. John Johnson; brothers, Mr. Johnny Lee Johnson, Mr. Wyman Johnson; and niece, Ms.Leonia Williams.

Survivors include daughters, Ms. Kim Renee Johnson and Ms. Ada Henry both of Kingsport; one grandson, Erico Marques of Kingsport; sisters, Ms. Doretha Johnson, Ms. Delores Denny of Kingsport, Ms. Geneva Brooks, Monticello, N.Y.; three brothers, Paul Johnson, Johnson City Tenn., Caprus Johnson, Gallatin, Tenn., Carter Johnson, Charleston W.Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; a very special nephew (Deac) Robby D. Denny; special friend, Ms. Barbara Short.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1. p.m. Friday at Central Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted from the church at 1 p.m. with Rev. James Whiteside officiating.

Burial will follow immediately at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Xavier “Tim” Hall

KINGSPORT — Xavier Timothy “Tim” Hall, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord at his residence on Monday (March 19, 2012).

Tim was born in Harriman, Tenn., on Jan. 20, 1973. He moved to Kingsport at an early age. He was raised by Nelly Swafford and the late James Swafford. He graduated from Dobyns-Bennett in 1992. He was an active member of then Mount Zion Baptist Church.

Tim was the founder of New Vision Youth. He was a strong pillar in the community. His accolades consist of: Xavier Entertainment, The Xavie Hall Show-Flavor of Xavier and an endless community activist.

He was employed at Verizon Wireless in Johnson City.

Tim will be remembered as a loving father, son and friend who loved his family and community.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Ron Hall; his grandmothers, Cecil Hall and Sampson Hall.

Survivors include his fiancée, Jessica Wiggins; his children, Rylee Billings, Justice Hall, Briana Hall, Zoe Hall, Xavier “Lily” Hall and Bryson Hall; his mother, Shelia Hall; aunt, Nellie Swafford; his sisters, Janet Horton and Kathy Carpenter; brothers, Orlando Hall, Donavon Hall and Jeremy Reed; a special father figure, Henry Taylor; his best friend, Paul “Kinfolk” Hall; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 10 to 12 noon Saturday at Central Baptist Church. Services will follow.

Burial will be at Church Hill Memory Gardens.
