Mrs. Jessie Taylor

KINGSPORT — Mrs. Jessie (Phillips) Taylor, 60, 1072 Robertson St., Apt. #181, fell into everlasting sleep in the arms of God on Thursday morning (Feb. 5, 2009) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.


Mrs. Taylor was born in Batesville, Miss. to the late Mr. and Mrs. Cashley and Odessie Phillips. Mrs. Taylor moved to Church Hill in the spring of 1967 and soon started working to build a life for herself. She moved to Kingsport and worked several jobs.
She met and married her late husband, Mr. Terry Taylor of Elizabethton, and they raised five children together.
Left to mourn her passing are four daughters, Rhonda Williams (Carl Hale) and Sharlita Terray Taylor, of Kingsport, Keyotia Rochelle Taylor of Nashville and Keyonia Lachelle Taylor of Memphis; one son, Tyrone (Joni) Phillips of Kingsport. Also mourning her death is her four sisters, Lenora (J.W.) Smith Memphis, Ollivet (S.V.) Cox Courtland, Miss., Annie (John) Ewing Johnson City and Lucille Williams Kingsport; five brothers, Odie and Amos Phillips of Kingsport, Cashley Jr. and Lonnie Phillips of Omaha, Neb. and Namon Phillips of Pendelton, Ore.; 13 grandchildren; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who all loved her dearly, and we will miss her beyond what words can describe.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon till time of services Thursday at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Maple Street, Kingsport and anytime at Mrs. Taylor’s residence.
Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the church.
Interment will be held at Washington County Memorial Garden, Johnson City.
