KINGSPORT — Edith K. Taylor Beatty, 75, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Wednesday (July 15, 2009) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Edith was born in Statesville, N.C. and lived in Kingsport most of her life. She was a graduate of Douglas High School in 1954. Edith was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church for over 60 years where she taught Sunday school for over 30 years. She was a faithful choir member. Edith was past president of Golden Saints of Shiloh Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Taylor Edwards; her step father, Kemp Edwards.
She is survived by her husband of over 44 years, James E. Beatty, of the home; one daughter, Tiffany Beatty Butts and husband, Mark of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Nyashia, Tyyonna and Fredrica Grady; one sister, Barbara Ann Hodge of Kingsport; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, 712 E. Sevier Ave., Kingsport.
A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the church with Rev. Kenneth Calvert, Rev. Eric Lockett and Rev. Phil Goins officiating.
Music will be provided by the church choir.
A graveside service will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport.
Pallbearers will be the men of Shiloh Baptist Church.
