Evangelist Doriss Williams
JENKINS, Ky. — Evangelist Doriss Jean Hampton Williams, 59, of Jenkins, Ky., departed this world on Sunday (Jan. 13, 2013) at the Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 25, 1953, in Norton, Va., at St. Mary’s Hospital to Robert Buford Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Hoskins Hampton. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who had the blessing to know her.
She was a devoted member of the New Freedom Worship Center in Jenkins.
Doriss is survived by her husband of 38 wonderful years, Johnny R. Williams Sr.; two sons, Johnny R. Williams Jr. of Richmond, Ky., and C. Shaun Williams (Christy) of Leitchfield, Ky.; four grandchildren, Aislynn Raylee Williams, Carley Araya Williams, Jerrick Porter Williams and Kendric Royce Williams; six sisters, Ruthie Wells of Plainfield, N.J., Mary Bond, Kingsport, Patricia Stover (Charles) of Kingsport, Anita Cox (Edward) of Church Hill, Peggy Turner (Lawrence) of Kingsport and Brenda Watterson of Kingsport; and three brothers, Robert O. Hampton (Jenney) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Ronald Hampton (Sharon) of Cincinnati, Ohio and William Hampton of Kingsport.
She is also survived by a host of aunts, nieces and nephews.
Doriss was preceded in death by her father, Robert Buford Hampton Sr.; mother, Mary E. Hoskins Hampton; sister, Shirley Bethea; brothers, James Hampton, Buford Hampton Jr. and Johnny Hampton; grandfather, Samuel Hoskins Sr.; grandmother, Edith Hoskins; aunt, Barbara Jean Squire; uncles, Bobby Hoskins, Samuel Hoskins Jr., Bobby Zanders, Eugene Dinkins and Charles Milbro; cousin, Tony Squire; nephew, Donald Hampton; great-niece, McKenzie Lee Lyons; and a brother-in-law, Russell Waterson Sr.
