Mrs. Cecilia Mae Henderson

"And the time of my departure is at hand. KINGSPORT — Mrs. Cecilia Mae Henderson, 74, of Kingsport passed away Monday (Jan. 14, 2013), at a local hospital.


Mrs. Henderson was born on Feb. 20, 1938, the daughter of the late George and Alice Fanney Tucker of Sneedville, Tenn. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Henderson was employed with Eastman Chemical Co. as a lab tech. She was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church for 46 years before joining the Central Baptist Church family.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Tucker, Mack Ray Tucker, L.C. Tucker, and Hugh Kyle Tucker; by her sisters, Irene Rutledge, Georgia Lee Tucker, Inamae Tucker, Pauline Johnson and Mary Tucker.

Mrs. Henderson leaves to mourn her passing, her husband of 54 years of marriage, Mr. James A. Henderson Sr.; her five children, Audrey Henderson of Chicago, Ill., of Berkeley, Willie Henderson Calif., James A. Henderson Jr. of Kingsport, Karen (Jerry) Machen of Nashville, Milicent (Eric) Mack of Carrollton, Ga.; five grandchildren, Jasen Machen, Dustin and Justin Machen of Nashville, Malcolm Dennis and Bria Mack of Carrollton, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Jayden Dennis of Carrollton, Ga. and Deserai Machen of Nashville; her brothers, William (Mildred) Tucker of Fort Washington, Md., and Oscar Tucker of Morristown, Tenn., Glenn (Brenda) Tucker of Sumter, S.C.; her sisters, Nina Jean Tucker of Washington, D.C., Lena (Terry) Griffin of Sneedville, Tenn., Edna (Hezekiah) Brown of Church Hill; along with a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, a special niece, Thelma Watterson of Kingsport; dear friends, Gladys Hyder of Kingsport and Rose Darnell of Cleveland, Ohio. Also, many good neighbors, whom she counted as friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Henderson will be conducted on Friday at 2 p.m. from the chapel of the East Lawn Funeral Home with her pastor, Rev. Ricardo Dorcean, son-in-law, Rev. Eric Mack and Mr. Rolax Jones officiating.

Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Friday from 1 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.

Mrs. Henderson’s grandsons and other family members will serve as active pallbearers.
