Annette Burnette Johnson

KINGSPORT — Annette Burnette Johnson, 68, of Kingsport, surrounded by loved ones, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday (Feb. 1, 2010) at Select Specialty Hospital in Bristol, Tenn. Mrs. Johnson was born Feb. 10, 1941, to the late Jack and Lena Ervin Burnette in Kingsport. She graduated from Douglas High School in 1959. She retired from Parks-Belk/Proffitt’s after 34 years of service.
She was a faithful member of Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church, where she served on the trustee board and Leader of Leaders, as well as several other committees.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her loving husband, Mr. Wyman Johnson; son, Wyman “Butch” Johnson Jr.; siblings, Phyllis Jackson, Jackie Hicks and Winfred Burnettel and mother-inlaw, Mrs. Elberta Johnson.
Survivors include her two children, Mrs. Suzette Beatty and 1st Sgt., William F. Johnson (retired), both of Kingsport;
three sisters, Gwendolyn
Norwood,
Shirley (Wallace) Powers of Chattanooga, and Deborah Malone of Kingsport; brother, Major Burnette of Delaware; four grandchildren, Stephen Williams, Latoya Williams, Patrice Williams and Brittany Johnson; six greatgrandchildren; sisters-in-law, Doretha Johnson, Delores Denny and Ann Johnson; brothers-inlaw, Caprus (Debbie) Johnson, Paul Johnson and Carter Johnson; aunt, Brooksie Burnette of Winchester, Va.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church, 812 Maple Oak Lane, Kingsport, or at 837 Dale St., Kingsport.
Funeral services will be conducted in the church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Charles H. Hawkins and the Rev. Joseph Comage officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the trustee board members and the class leaders of the church.
