ELIZABETHTON — Mr. Lawrence C. Jones, 75, formerly of Kingsport, departed this life on Friday morning (Dec. 25, 2010), at Life Care Center Elizabethton, Tenn., after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Jones was born on May 11, 1935, in Greensboro, Ala., and was a graduate of Douglass High School in Kingsport. Mr. Jones served in the United States Army for 25 years.
He was a member of Central Baptist Church where he served on the usher board.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother, Mrs. Mary Hutcherson; brother, Mr. Fletcher Hutcherson Jr.; sister, Mrs. Loretta Valentine; aunt, Ovetta Gaines.
Mr. Jones leaves to celebrate his homegoing: one sister, Mrs. Ora Lee Richardson; aunt, Mrs. Beulah Banner; and members of the family, the Rev. Bobby Hill and the Rev. Dr. Anthony Daniels, Wayne and Jerry Green; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. till the hour of service at Central Baptist Church.
Funeral service for Mr. Jones will be conducted at noon on Friday at the church with Pastor Ricardo F. Dorecan and the Rev. Dr. Anthony Daniels.
Graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday at V.A. National Cemetery. The cortege will depart from Central Baptist Church at 1 p.m.
Friends may call the home of Mrs. Beulah Banner 1011 Douglass Street in Riverview, Kingsport.
