Mrs. Shirley Bond-Rogers

KINGSPORT — Mrs. Shirley Ann Bond-Rogers, 74, departed this life on Wednesday (Dec. 8, 2010), at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Mrs. Rogers was born March 22, 1936.

Shirley was a very happy, family-oriented person; she loved to spend time in her garden, and preparing the perfect meal, she was loved by many, and will never be forgotten. She had a very devoted and cohesive family. She attended Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Ala., for two years. And she retired from Baysmont Asbury Place.

Shirley is preceded in death by her father, Mr. Oscar Bond, and daughter, Nadine Rogers.

She is survived by her son, Mr. Conrad Bond; sister, Regina (Isiah) Gray; stepchildren, Gregory, Denise, and Dennis (Camilla) Rogers of Knoxville, Tenn.; mother, Evangelist Willie B. Evans Bond;  grandchildren (that she raised) Marcus, Anthony, and Niesha Rogers; great-granddaughter, Ja’maya Fluellen; five uncles, Mr. Orvel (Beatrice) Bond, Mr. William Evens, Mr. Hugh Hodge, Mr. John (Members) Bond of Fayetteville, N.C., and Mr. Escoe Branner of New York, N.Y.; two nieces, Mrs. Jacquelyn Releford, Mrs. Nikki Dully; great nieces, Ronisha Dully and Ja’Necqua Releford; great nephews, Kameron Cox and Ja’Veonn Dully, and a host of cousins and friends.

Special friends and affiliations were Shirley Lollar Patterson, Gladys Davis Thomas, Deloris Blye and the Coffee Club (Mona Sensabaugh and Iris Rhoton).

Special heartfelt thanks from the Bond-Rogers family to Holston Valley Emergency Room and Wilcox Hall for all of the care, support, and prayers given to Shirley and her family.

Thanks for the many prayers, concerned calls, and visits from the community.

Memorial service for Mrs. Shirley Ann Bond-Rogers will be conducted at 2 p.m., Pierce Chapel A.M.E. Cemetery, at 2 p.m. on Saturday with Pastor Joseph Comage, officiating.
